Officers arrested the minor later that evening. The case has been registered for sexual assault and criminal intimidation, and includes charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The accused was presented before the Juvenile Justice Board and remanded to a juvenile correctional facility.
Protest, property damage and a second FIR
Word of the assault sparked a demonstration by members of right-wing groups near the accused’s uncle’s shop. Protesters damaged the premises and claimed the business was operating under a name they said did not reflect the family’s faith.
Police deployed reinforcements to restore order. A separate FIR lists several people — both identified and unidentified — in connection with rioting, voluntary hurt, mischief and criminal intimidation, officials said.
