The Sanatan Dharma Maha Saba (SDMS) has been granted a television license by the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) which will allow the SDMS to operate on cable TV networks. Although it is not a free-to-air license this opportunity is one that Sat Maharaj, secretary general of SDMS is proud to see take place.
Maharaj, confirmed that SDMS has been invited by TATT to sign the licensing paperwork.
In addition to the already existing Islamic Broadcasting Network (IBN) and the Catholic station on cable TV network flow, a new Hindu network will also now exist.
He hopes to launch the new network, Jaagriti TV, within the next three to four months. The project requires recruitment of about 8 new employees to help run it.
Maharaj stated that the network channel will be very similar to the existing Jaagriti radio station which is free of advertisements related to alcohol, parties and meat.
He aims to keep the network content as religion-based as much as possible so that the focus will consistently be on propagating the Hindu way of life. He further hopes to accommodate the needs of Hindus in the challenges of a new world reality.
