Happy Akshaya Tritiya Greetings 2011

The festival of Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated by members of the Hindu and Jain community. It is also called as Akha Teej and Vaishaka Teej. In the year 2011, it will be celebrated in the first week of May. This festival is placed in the category of special occasions, in India. Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated on Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha, Vaishaka Masa.


This day Lord descended in form of Nar-Narayana, Parshuram, Hayagriva. So, this day is also known as Avatar Om Jayanti. According to a mythological belief, Treta Yug was started on this day. Hence, this day is also called as Yugadi Tithi.

If Duj(Dwitiya Tithi) remains till noon time, still this day is celebrated as Akshaya Tritiya. This day is considered the best if, its Monday and in Rohini Nakshatra. For celebrating Jayanti Utsava and Puja etc., learned Pandit must be called.

This day of Akshaya Tritiya is considered good for fasting. This day is included in all the three categories, that is, Fast – Upvas and Festival. Hence, religious works performed on this day are considered auspicious.

There is a tradition of eating rice, Khichadi of moong, in ethos. For making this, fruit of tamarind and jaggery are separately soaked in water. Then, their juice is filtered. Jaggery mixed is taken in proportion to the quantity of tamarind used. This day, people talk about the cultivation of coming year and try prognostication about it. 

Akshaya Tritiya (Parshuram Teej) – Tritiya of Vaishaka Shukla Paksha is called Akshaya Tritiya. Maharishi Guru Parashuram was born on this day. Hence, this day is celebrated as Parashuram Jayanti or Parshuram Teej. To please the souls in heaven,urn, fan,Khadau,umberalla,sut(thread),muskmelon etc. are donated to Brahmans on this day. the doors of Badrinath Daham are opened, on this day. Devotees should place the picture of Sri Badrinath and offere the Bhog of Mishri (sugar) and wet gram Dal. 

Akshaya Tritiya Subha Muhurat – In India there is a custom of performing all auspicious works in a Muhurat, for the best outcomes. If a person starts any work in the Muhurat Kal, his changes of being successful in the particular work increases. In India, Dussehra, Dhanteras and Akhatrij are considered as Abujh Muhurata. Any auspicious work can be started, on this day. Any other rule of Muhurat is not necessary to be followed.

Akshay Tritiya is considered favorable for buying gold, vehicles or any immovable item. Opening of a new office can be done, on this day.
