Shubh Akha Teej (akhatij)

Shubh Akha Teej (akhatij)

Akshaya Tritiya, also known as Akha Teej (Akhatij) or Navanna Parvam and is a Hindu and a significant Jainism holy day, that falls on the third Tithi (Lunar day) of Bright Half (Shukla Paksha) of the pan-Indian month of Vaishakha. It is an special day of the birthday of Lord Parasurama who is the 16th incarnation of Shri Vishnu. On this day Veda Vyas and Shri Ganesha began to write Mahabharata. The meaning of the word Akshaya is infinite that which never recede. The literal meaning of Akshay in Sanskrit means imperishable or “never diminishing” and thus the day is believed to be the best time for beginning new ventures or investing money in precious metals and land.

For Hindus, this day is ruled by Bhagwan Vishnu, the preserver-god in the Hindu Trinity. It is also traditionally celebrated as the birthday of the Hindu sage Parashurama, the 6th Avatar (incarnation) of the god Vishnu. According to Hindu mythology, on this day the Treta Yuga began and the river Ganges, the most sacred river of India, descended to the earth from the heaven.

Buying gold on Akshaya Tritiya day, is considered auspicious by many Indians. Akshay Tritiya is one occasion of auspicious timings for making an important purchase of Gold.

The Chakra team wishes everyone a happy Akshaya Tritiya (Shubh Akha Teej).
