Teacher at a School in Trouble After Reciting a Hindu Chant in India

April 16, 2012 by Editor Leave a Comment

Tamil Nadu, India – The students of a class at the SBOA School and Junior College in Anna Nagar West witnessed their teacher being taken away with charges of “manhandling and misbehaviour” but the teacher claims she was only punished due to the reciting of a Hindu prayer to the students of the classroom.

Teacher, P. Abirami had volunteered for this years examinations to chant a prayer to get the blessings of Hindu, Christian and Muslim gods as is done every year but was surprised to the turning off of the microphone by other teachers while she was in the middle of the prayer.

When the teachers turned off the microphone without speaking individually to her first, the teacher was upset and further continued her prayer regardless of the microphone being rudely turned off in front of the students.

The students at the school said that a Christian prayer was usually recited before exams but this time a teacher had started a Hindu prayer causing other teachers to attempt to stop her immediately.

Sixty people were arrested after BJP, VHP and the Hindu Munnani staged a protest outside of the school the next day. They were arrested but later released without any charges.
