Very beautiful painting! Full of colour, tranquillity and bliss.
As I can see, here Buddha looks more like the Indian Hindu gods.
I must say that I am used with having the specific “Chinese eyes” and other extreme-oriental anthropological features…

No it is not, there is a flaw in the way they painted, Buddha never expresses with that hand and fingers in the way it is portrayed here, it is more of a hindu god kind of expression. It is not appropriate portrait, or otherwise, it does not reflect Buddha in all respects.

If you differ, explain me what is the left hand position means and the right hand position means, give me one example where Buddha uses his finger position like the above depiction?, This is more of a hindu yoga position than Buddha’s way of sitting, in a meditative posture, Buddha’s leg does not cross this way as it is portrayed here.

Ofcourse any painting is beautiful, if you are looking for it in that manner, as far as it really reflect the subject, that is questionable?

Lord Buddha was a Hindu – His name was Siddhartha, He was son of a king. He sat meditating under the ‘Pipal’ tree also known as Bodhi tree & attained enlightenment hence the name ‘Lord Buddha’.

Naturally he would have the Yoga positions which are any way Indian – Religion is not important – the teaching’s are.

Mr Nitin, You don’t have enough knowledge of Lord Buddha, He was not Hindu, Hinduism came here after Lord Buddha.
In Nalanda University(Bihar) there were 10,000 student(world wide) & 15,00 teachers at the time of Buddha. So just image the fame of Lord Buddha in world wide on that time. But Indian mentality always think to destroy good things here. Now go to Bihar & watch it…observe Nalanda University.

Maitray, it is very well known that both Buddhism and Hinduism were destroyed by Islamists (Moghuls at the time) throughout Asia and even places like modern Afghanistan were 100% wiped of Buddhism and introduced to Islam.

It is well documented that Nalanda University was burnt for days by Islamists and it housed many buddhist and hindu literature.

very sad indeed. We even see time repeat itself in modern times like the the BUDDHAS OF BAMIYAN that were heritage sites and destroyed by the Muslim extremist group TALIBAN

I think its funny how a beautiful painting which portrays peace and calm could spark a righteous discussion of Ego, people does it really matter
