At a Sikh exhibition during Vaisakhi celebrations, Dr. Vince Cable addressed and paid tribute to British Sikhs. He spoke during the “Turbanology: Sikh Unwrapped” exhibition which was held for the first time in London.
Dr Cable, the Business, Innovation and Skills Secretary recognized Sikhs for their contribution to prosperity in business in Britain. He also acknowledged the importance of Sikhs ties to the community of India. He further defended the importance of giving aid to the subcontinent to help in issues of poverty.
A panel of Sikh leaders spoke about their enterprises and how they hope to use portions of profit towards the support and development of future Sikh talent. They are thrilled at the idea of support the Sikh youth population so as to increase prosperity levels in the Sikh communities both in Indian and London.
Peter Singh Virdee, business tycoon, introduced a new fun, which he will be launching later this year for Sikhs that have promising and creative ideas and are in need of finance.
He further stated that he is looking forward go mentor, support and help lead any Sikh leaders to take part in growing the Sikh community’s prosperity levels within the country.
Mr. Virdee also recognized that it was the 313th anniversary since the creation of the Khalsa Brotherhood.
Ernst & Young is hosting the new film commission, which captures prominent Sikhs speaking out about the meaning of their turban identity and its importance to each individual Sikh.
Jay Singh-Sohal the even host and exhibition Director, was very pleased with the turnout of the event and shared some insight on the Sikh communities contribution impact on the British economy. He was pleased to host an event which took part in celebrating the successes of the Sikh community reflecting on what Sikh’s have to offer.
