In 2015, Guru Gobind SinghJi jayanti falls on January 5th. Guru Gobind Singhji Jayanti is the celebration of the birth date of Sikhism’s 10th and last holy Guru. Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is a day where Sikh communities carry large processions and special prayers at Gurudwaras(aka Sikh temples) all around the globe. Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is celebrated around the World with large Sikh populations such as India, Canada, UK, Australia and the United States.
Sikh Guru Sri Gobind Singh ji was born in the Northern Indian state known as Bihar, where he was also a brave warrior, poet and deep philosopher. He succeeded his father Guru Tegh Bahadur as the leader of the Sikh faith at a young age of 9. He contributed much to the Sikhism religion and way of life; most notable was his formalization of the faith where the 1st Sikh guru Nanak Dev had founded almost 3 centuries ago. He transformed Sikh devotees into Khalsa (pure) in 1699.
Adding to the Guru’s spiritual and military leadership, Guru Gobind Singhji was gifted in intellectual thought and had many poets in his court. He was inspired to write many powerful spiritual compositions that infused a martial spirit in the people around him. This included the Jaap Sahib. Guru Gobind Singh’s writings have been collected in the Dasam Granth. When he passed away he instructed his Sikhs to regard the Guru Granth Sahib as their teacher.

Hi,
Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our eternal Guru. Guru Gobind SIngh Ji was not the “last” Guru.
Thanks

^^^ agree with first poster.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji was not the “last” Guru – he was the tenth Guru, the last Guru in a human form if you will, our Eternal Guru, which is forever more is, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.. His name is Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, not Singhji (one word), but Singh Ji (two words), also not Guru Sri Gobind Singh. Each of our Guru’s names are ALWAYS preceded with “Sri” and always ended with “ji” – it is a sign of respect. The correct way therefore is Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and our eternal Guru which is Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Thank-you
