Srinagar, Kashmir (CHAKRA) – Sikh residents in Jammu-Kashmir demanded today that the centre and state Congress government take immediate action to protect and improve their lot, accusing the government of ignoring their plight for too long.
Jagmohan Singh Raina, Coordinator of All Parties Sikh Coordination Commitee (APSCC) said that the Sikh people are a very tiny minority of the valley after the unfortunate departure of the Kashmiri Pandits but disappointingly the centre nor the state have taken notice to their deplorable living conditions.
Raina demanded that immediate steps be taken under the state to endorse centrally sponsored schemes of development that offer benefits, employment programs for the community as well as ratify policies that promote development of Sikhs and their history. He stated that no policy has ever been enacted for the Sikhs.
