Hindu Cremation Ground Taken by Local Muslims in Kashmir

Srinagar, India (CHAKRA) — Upon arriving to his home, Rakesh, one of few pundits returning to a small village in Northern Kashmir did not expect things to be the same after sixteen years.  However, what he found was far worse than he had ever expected.

The local Islamic mafia had taken over his house, his land, and even his village’s historic religious cremation area once used by Hindus and Sikhs and was now used for building Muslim colonies.

The Islamic mafia had already built a muslim owned shop and a house on the cremation ground and just recently some villagers had gotten together to stop the mafia from building a second home over their Hindu cremation ground.

The bureaucrats and district level take bribes to support the Islamic mafia members and that is why pundits who return have never been able to regain their lost land and home.  Thus Rakesh is not the only one dealing with such issues.  As more and more Hindus and Sikhs try to return, they are faced with similar misfortunes in muslim-majority areas.
