Massachusetts, USA (CHAKRA) – A Thai based Theravada Buddhist temple also known as Wat Nawamintararachutis is to be built in Raynham. Raynham is a town with approximately 12,000 people located in the state of Massachuseets. This temple will house 16 thailand buddhist monks and will cover over 50 acres of land with the temple sitting on 5 acres.
Wat Nawamintararachutis will be the largest buddhist temple in New England and one of the largest Buddhist temples in the world. The Theravada temple will include housing, gardens, prayer area, meditation center and a museum.
The Buddhist place of worship is expected to by built within 2 years and may be as high as 60 feet with a goden spire reaching 180 feet. Currently, a few monks live on a farmhouse in Raynham.
So far the response from the local community has been quite positive with no real objections being voiced. A few local residents we spoke to said that they originally anticipated some rejection over the giant temple but noticed how much more open Americans are in reality and think religious freedom should be practiced around the world.

Has progress been made on the proposed temple? Is the site open for visitors?
