While I agree with the statements of the author w.r.to some matters the matter is not an open and shut case. Westerners have the ability to twist anything to suit their policies and aims. The best example is the presently discarded aryan invasion theory and which was created by Maxmuller just to justify colonisation. All is not black and white and the westerners have the habit of being like the blindmen who went to inspect an elephant. The other day I saw a documentary by an ‘”alleged” Egyptologist’ who went to srilanka, spoke to someone there and decided that Shiva is the creator God in Hinduism. The authority I saw in the lady were her long legs and a reasonably agreeable countenance. I told her politely that authorities in Hinduism is not some steet vendor in srilanka which has a disorted form of hinduism, she said thats true hinduism. She has no idea that each of the trimuverate have specific roles in Hinduism and in poems they extoll the patricular form as the be all and end all. The poor fool does not have the experience not to spew nonsense without research and at the place where it is unadulterated and practiced with authority. What she was not aware is that like most westerners she also could not fathom or understand that Hinduism propagated monism long before Abrahamic religions but the stage is reached in graduated steps. I state this story to say how many western “schowlers” spew howlers. I feel a lot of UNBIASED research with only scholarly intent is needed. Thats lacking as far as india is concerned because of a need to belittle India by the west. western approach to india is very integrated and it spans all the areas of activity. While talking politely they stab you in the back.
