By Brigadier Chitranjan Sawant, VSM

FICCI is a powerful entity and its women’s wing wields more political and economic power than the main body. At their Annual General Meeting, Narendra bhai Modi was the Chief Guest on Monday, 8th July 2013. The sessiom was so successful that everyone connected with it was patting his or her back. Of course, it was Modi’s show from Aye to Zee, he was on the centre stage all along and every word that left his lips was heard by one and all with rapt attention, never mind the politico-economic views of the listeners. The members and guests kept standing in the auditorium of a five-star hotel in New Delhi as the hall was packed beyond capacity. Of course, the venue was shifted twice to accommodate the unexpectedly large numbers of economists wishing to hear Narendra Modi.

The 42 year-old scion of the Nehru-Gandhi family had addressed the CII audience a couple of days earlier and both the content and the style did not have much to write home about. Indeed that factor aroused people’s imagination and they were rather over keen to hear Narendra Modi and have his speech saved for narration as a bed-time story for adults.

Swami Dayanand Saraswati, the great socio-religious reformer of the 19th century India did a yeoman’s service to Mankind in general and the Hindus of Bharat in particular by unlocking the divine knowledge, VEDAS, and undertaking to take them to commoners in its Hindi translation to empower them, especially the women folk. He achieved tremendous success and the commoners, women folk in particular, felt that they had acquired a place in the Hindu society, under the sun, and the Vedic empowerment enabled them to walk erect and hold their heads high.

EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN

Narendra Modi was given a theme and it goes to his credit that he had woven his stories around the main there only. He did not go astray nor did he sound irrelevant at any time in his hour and a half speech. The anecdotes that he narrated were from the soil of Gujarat and pointed to the down to earth purpose of the talk. The real life story of Jesuben Ka Pizza as opposed to the fictitious story of Kalavati that his arch rival had narrated and thus had brought himself in the line of fire of his critics, was appreciated by one and all. The stories of how Narendra bhai created a place for the women folk in the financial system went well with the audience. These were real life stories and sounded as such. No one raised an accusing finger at them then or later.

The entire speech can be viewed here:

Humour played an important role in Modi’s address and the audience loved it. Of course, the Congress party was directly being criticized and the ignorant 42-year old young man who is not yet a grown up man bore the brunt in absentia. Chief Minister Modi chose not to spare his state’s governor, Kamla Beniwal, for her constitutional impropriety in sitting over a women’s 50 per cent representation in all elected bodies of the state despite its having been passed by the state legislature with a thumping majority. Modi had an appreciative audience and won bouquets as the man who led a charge for women’s political empowerment but it is a woman governor of the Congress party that has been playing the villain all along.

Peals of laughter of the woman folk could be heard every now and then. When Modi ji volunteered to have a break to enable the women entrepreneurs go out for lunch, there was a loud NO to the proposal and the vast audience wished to sit through without taking lunch. When the speaker said that he could go on and on since his next engagement was scheduled for four pm, the women entrepreneurs took it with wit and indicated their wish to continue listening to Narendra bhai as long as he wished to speak. Never a dull moment right from the word GO and until the celebrated Speaker thanked the audience for coming and also for their patience. All said and done, it was a good show and was enjoyable indeed.

By O.P. Sudrania

(CHAKRA) Sushil Kumar Shinde is Home Minister of India and Congress MP. He is also said to be a ‘dalit’ like our esteemed Speaker – Ms Meira Kumar, Rambilas Paswan, infamous A. Raja, Mayawati UP chief minister etc. He has shamed the entire country in the eyes of global community, given an opportunity to the international terrorist like Hafiz Saeed, who is incriminated in Mumbai 26/11 blast that killed more than 170 innocent lives and injuring thousands. “The founder of Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has described a $10m (£6.2m) bounty on his head – announced by the US on Tuesday…” reported by BBC.

Present UPA II consists of a conglomerate of multitudes of so called ‘secular’ parties because they are not communal Vis a Vis BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party – how communal it may sound). Let us examine its configuration especially in relation to ‘Saffron Vis a Vis Green moon and star parties).

The following data are from the source:

Current members for Lok-Sabha 2009

(1) Indian National Congress – 206 Seats (2) Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam – 18 Seats; (3) Nationalist Congress Party – 9 Seats (4) Rashtriya Lok Dal – 5 Seats (5) Jammu & Kashmir National Conference – 3 Seats (6) Jharkhand Mukti Morcha – 2 Seats (7) Indian Union Muslim League – 2 Seats (8) All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen – 1 Seats (Withdrew support on November 13, 2012) (9) Kerala Congress (Mani) – 1 Seats (10) Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi – 1 Seat.

Supporting parties for Lok-Sabha 2009

(1) Samajwadi Party – 22 Seat (2) Bahujan Samaj Party – 21 Seats (3) Rashtriya Janata Dal – 4 Seats (4) Janata Dal (Secular) – 3 Seats (5) Nagaland People’s Front – 1 Seats (6) Bodoland People’s Front – 1 Seats (7) Swabhimani Paksha – 1 Seats (8) Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi – 1 Seats (9) All India United Democratic Front – 1 Seats (10) Sikkim Democratic Front – 1 Seats

Indian Union Muslim League and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen really do make it look secular because they are Islamist groups. I shall not divert by delving on the long saffron “Tikka” on forehead by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, this in itself is a fictitious bewitching symbol to deceive the Hindu voters because they are not (stress) Hindus. How secular is the credentials of this present “United Progressive Alliance II” after their second term in 2009. Yet BJP is communal by their standards. This justifies the Shinde shit of Hindu terror implying saffron terror by priori since their Muslim votebank policy is biting them. Hence “Hindu Terror” bandwagon has to be beaten to befool the Muslims, not because of the real ghost of Hindu terror but a perceived ghost of Hindu terror. If it is not there, create one. It is aptly expressed in a Latin maxim: “A posse ad esse”, i.e. from the possible to the real.

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM)

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha is composed of the original sons of the soil historically, who are born, brought up and has fought their battles against the invading aggressors. Sometime ago Dr. Farooq Abdullah had remarked that the Moon and Star is now outmoded and Muslims have to look forward. He was made unholy in his communalised radical Kashmir valley.

Similarly, “Today, in a stormy Majlis Shura (Governing Council) meeting, Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Vastanvi ousted from his post of Mohtamim (Rector) of Darul Uloom Deoband. Following his ouster, Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani was appointed as Mohtamim. India is secular because of Hindus, said a Muslim leader. Still Shinde must see terror in Hindus because His Masters Voice wishes it so.

Vastanvi’s fault was, “Just after his appointment, he sparked a controversy, saying Muslims too benefited from the development initiative of the Gujarat chief minister. He was also allegedly quoted saying that Muslims should forget the infamous 2003 Gujrat riots which took thousands of innocent lives.””

“The demand was raised by State Janta Dal (U) president Ghulam Qadir Wani while addressing a meeting here today. He said “What is the meaning of joining Hindu and saffron color with terror? It is a downright insult of India’s spiritual, cultural and civilization heritage. Hindus has always been generous… India is secular because Hindus respect the other view,” he went on to demand his (Shinde’s) resignation. Still Shinde cannot look beyond his prism of Hindu terror. The entire world must be laughing at his psychic IQ. He cannot be awakened who is feigning to sleep!

MIM is a branded dynastic political party about this highly secular UPA II, initially started by the patriarch Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi who was Member of Parliament for six consecutive terms and resigned in 2004 in favour of his eldest son. It was the seventh straight victory of the All India Majlis-e Ittihad al-Muslimin (MIM) in the Hyderabad seat. The seat was previously occupied by his father, MIM supremo Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi, who decided to pass on the mantle of MIM leadership in favour of his eldest son. The Party since then retaining all the seven State Seats of the State Assembly from the constituencies of Charminar, Yakutpura, Chandrayangutta, Malakpet, Nampally, Bahadurpura, Karwan, andAsifnagar in the Old city and New city as well as the Hyderabad Central Lok Sabha constituency, all Muslim dominated.

A frantic search on net has not helped to learn more; perhaps their secular credentials must have been under smoke screen that Google and Yahoo have some difficulty with it. Recent arrests of both the Owaisis in communal hate speeches must be a grotesque reminder of their secular characteristics. They have been reported enough with an international outcry but Shinde Inc must not look on that side. Let me try my luck with another secular constituent.

Indian Union Muslim League:

“Though League is a powerful pro-Muslim community oriented party, it sticks to its secular credentials. It has decided to remain their allegiance to Indian Union after Independence, when the original Muslim League went to Pakistan. The IUML is the only Pro-Muslim party, which declared its allegiance and loyalty to India in post-independent India. The party has strongholds mostly in Kerala State districts like Kozhikode, Malappuram and Kasargod. They form the second largest party within UDF.

A particular faction of Muslims in Kerala is sometimes regarded as the supporters of Indian Union Muslim League. The supreme leader of the faction, Panakkad Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal, is the president of Kerala state unit of Indian Union Muslim League. This unofficial support is cause of the repeating election victories of Indian Union Muslim League candidates from Muslim dense districts.”

It further goes on communal violence in Kerala, its chief place of mischief.

*IUML members were accused of alleged involvement in communal riots in Marad & Later Supreme Court acquitted all IUML members as there is no proof of their involvement in this massacre. The Marad massacre was the killing of eight Hindus by a Muslim mob on 2 May 2003 at the Marad beach of the Kozhikode district, Kerala, India. The Judicial Commission of Inquiry by Justice Thomas P Joseph that probed the incident concluded that Indian Union Muslim League was directly involved in both conspiracy and execution of the massacre.

The commission affirmed “a clear communal conspiracy, with Muslim fundamentalist and terrorist organisations involved”. The courts later sentenced 62 Muslims to life imprisonment for committing the massacre in 2009.

The role of Indian Union Muslim Leader P. P. Modieen Koya and Mayin Haji (then Chairman Kozhikode Development Authority) was also highlighted in the report but later Supreme Court acquitted all as there is no solid proof of their involvement in this massacre and found them to be aware of the conspiracy beforehand.

On 5 August 2012, the State secretary (CPI-M) Pinarayi Vijayan accused Indian Union Muslim League workers (IUML) of causing death to a DYFI activist, at Thachangad during the hartal on 2 August 2012. Though he admitted that it was too premature to comment on the basis of the preliminary report of the post-mortem. Later the post mortem report confirmed the death was due to cardiac arrest.*

Yet Shinde must be a secular face, else invoke his ‘Dalit’ card to raise the pitch of further anti-Hindu passion. It is my prime duty and privilege to show the darker side of his patent remark where “Tracing hate” byNadeem F. Paracha (13th December, 2012) states, “Without getting into the theological debate of whether the Ahmadi community deserved excommunication from the fold of Islam in Pakistan or not, one can, however, reach a political conclusion that this issue has triggered the demise of democratic and non-religious forces that sided with those who originally initiated legislative action against the Ahmadis.

The following examples in this context should also be taken as a warning by democratic parties on both sides of the ideological divide that their ‘pragmatic’ association with fundamentalist and sectarian outfits is akin to digging a hole for themselves.”

Manzer Munir, a Pakistani from America, who sincerely laments in his blog, “Muslims: #RemoveHate or Pakistan Will Disintegrate”.; based on a report published in Huffington Post by Dr Faheem Younus, who is a clinical associate professor at the University of Maryland. He is the founder of Muslimerican.com. Follow him on Twitter at @FaheemYounus

He asserts, “Historically, Muslim sects in Pakistan chose to appease the “worthy of death” rhetoric against another minority because they saw it as an insurance policy for themselves. Perhaps they should listen to John F. Kennedy’s inauguration speech of 1961: “…remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.”

The tiger has already swallowed so many. Just look around: Shiite processions? Terrorized. Sufis shrines? Bombed. Christian leaders? Assassinated. Hindu girls? Kidnapped.”

Yet Hindus are training terrorist in camps, Mr Shinde must assert. I think his epistemology of English language can be blamed partly when he mixed up terrorists for territoreal, who heads the sensitive portfolio of Home Ministry of India. It is not his fault – Macaulayism at best. It is your fault if you do not understand what he said, because it is the media who distorted his words and opposition parties are exploiting for political mileage.

Initially the Congress had distanced from his remarks by attributing to Shinde but later on they have jumped into the bandwagon to defend him as an afterthought.

The Conspiracy theories behind “Hindu Terror”:

This is a calculated transcript pre-empted and must be conceptualised by Ms Sonia Gandhi by herself since she is a born Catholic from Orbassano conservative village, Italy. She has known the power of Hindu nationalism and further doses must have received from her mother-in-law living under her shadow. It is variously quoted in media that she is fourth largest rich person in the world. Her assets are estimated from $2.2 to 11 Billion, while other sources quote in Indian currency to the tune of Rs. 20.80 Lacs Crores. She has never contested or denied it Vis a Vis Morarji Desai; who had sued his defamers in USA with the help of Mr Henry Kissinger despite his bad health in last days. She is also known to have links with the then KGB of USSR and Secret Vatican Intelligence Agency Opus Die proved documentarily, ISI of Pakistan, CIA of USA, even Mossad of Israel has been quoted, etc. In this report, they question the role of KGB, Mossad and LTTE in the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi since he had discovered her complicity in Bofors scandal along with Mr Ottavio Quattrocchi, Ms Sonia Gandhi’s Italian accomplice.

“Last section is from IB Chief Dharr’s book ‘Open Secret’ shows clearly that Sonia Gandhi is KGB agent. How KGB kills Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Rajesh Pilot, Jitendra Prasad, Madhavrav Scindhiya…” Their sons have been made Ministers in UPA II cabinet to divert their attention from her crimes.

“The darkest of all conspiracies By B. R. Haran ‘The Pioneer’ Saturday, January 22, 2011details, “Hindu terror” and “Saffron terror” are terms concocted on the basis of weak evidence by a discredited, corrupt political elite which thinks nothing of sacrificing human lives for petty electoral gains. But how long can you fool all the people? Since the formation of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in 2004 there has been a marked rise in the number of sleeper modules of jihadi organisations across India. The high priority accorded by UPA- 1 to the repeal of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2002, had a significant bearing on the career of Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

This terrorist group, which acted on direct orders of the Lashkar- e- Tayyeba (LeT) found the latitude accorded by a pseudo-secular regime in Delhi to reinvent itself as “Indian Mujahideen”, “Deccan Mujahideen” and “Popular Front of India.”

All this amply delineates that a “conspiracy of Hindu terrorism” must be created for two reasons: One that a large section of Hindu population has been against the Indian National Congress right after independence in 1947. This found the anger of beleaguered first Prime Minister of India – Pandit Nehru, who dreaded them and assassination of Mahatma Gandhi gave him reprieve to suppress the growing Hindu nationalism to consolidate his position of secular credentials and Muslim votebank stock. This same scourge of anti-Hindu political trump card has been played to malign the Hindu society through a calculated instrument of media tirade incessantly being run through majority Indian press, which are controlled from outside the Indian borders as well as their foreign fundings detailed by Gautam Sen.

Judging from all these political and corruption and black money, the conspiracy of maligning the Hindu community for vested interests is understandable and is a necessary monster that has to be kept alive and moving.

Shinde’s lies exposed:

In an article in The New Indian Express, “True lies of Sushil Kumar Shinde”, By S. Gurumurthy, 24th January 2013, details as under:

LeT Culprit, say UN, US

“Qasmani Arif…chief coordinator of the relations of the [LeT] with other organisations…has worked with Lashkar-e-Tayyiba to facilitate terrorist attacks including…the bombing of February 2007 in the Samjhauta Express in Panipat (India).” This is what resolution [No 1267] of the Committee on Sanctions of the United Nations Security Council [UNSC] dated 29.6.2009 declares. Adding that Qasmani was funded by Dawood Ibrahim and he did the fundraising for the LeT and the al-Qaida, the UNSC said, “In exchange for their support, al-Qaida provided support staff for the February 2007 bombing of the Samjhauta Express in Panipat.” This resolution is available on the UN site. Two days later, on July 1, 2009, the United States Treasury Department said in its press release: “Arif Qasmani has worked with the LeT to facilitate terrorist attacks, including…Samjhota Express bombing.” The US named four Pakistanis, including Arif Qasmani as terrorists, under Executive Order No 13224. This press release is still on the US Treasury site. The United Nations Security Council and the US Treasury Department thus named the LeT, Qasmani and Dawood Ibrahim as accused in Samjhauta terror. This is just the beginning of the torrent of evidence pointing to the LeT and Pakistan.”

My own feeling is that Shinde is completely ignorant and at the same time running himself in the set timeline drawn by his God master/mistress. This lie has been earlier spoken by Rahul Gandhi and P. Chidambaram also. Rahul’s lie was exposed through WikiLeaks Cables, later confirmed by the ex-US Ambassador to India, viz Timothy Roemer that growth of “radicalised Hindu groups” which create religious tensions in India could pose a bigger threat to the country than activities of groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Thus it is a calculated premeditated planned strategy to shield themselves from their own black money and scandalous scams exposed during the regime of UPA government, e.g. cash for vote, 2 G by A. Raja, Hasan Ali Khan scandal for black money laundering, Coalgate, Chief Vigilance Commissioner P.J Thomas, Commonwealth Games scandal by Suresh Kalmadi, Adarsh Society scam, Devas-Antrix deal, Abdul Kalim Telgi stamp scam, Satyam scam, Bofors scam, Fodder scam (chara ghotala) of Bihar, IPL scam involving Lalit Modi and Shashi Tharoor, Hawala scandal also involved money transferred to militants of Hijbul Mujahideen in Kashmir, Harshad Mehta and Ketan Parekh stock exchange scam, etc. Their lunger (Punjabi feast) of scams has not stopped, everyday a new one surfaces. While this scam tainted UPA was having a breather, Delhi gangrape case rocked the entire country after the public pitch raised by Anna Hazare and Arvind Kejriwal teams, followed by Baba Ramdev. Shinde was castigated for his remarks against the Delhi rape case comparing them to Maoists.

Income tax raids, CBI misuse are two strong instruments that are regularly targeted to raid their opponents to either silence their voices or exposing the black money stashed by misuse of power and authority in crores as the unaccounted money beyond the known sources of their income. A war cry against corruption and rising inflation that is breaking the backbone of common people are some of the reasons for these diversionary dangerous politics with their long term divisive and disruptive politics of Hindu terrorism.

Whatever be the cause or culprit, it is an ample proof of governance deficit, which UPA government has to burden and share and answer for. All these everyday unpardonable and treasonable scandals with their fast declining vote bank especially in Muslims is the chief reason to raise their pitch for a fictitious ghost of Hindu terrorism to woo the Muslim votes. This is a scandalously dangerous negationist politics to pave the way for divisive cynicism. It must be condemned and exposed at every level and platforms.

By Ranbir Singh

(CHAKRA) The recent furore against allowing Wal-Mart and other western multinational companies into India ’s lucrative retail sector is based upon fears that it will bankrupt the small retails who have been at the hub of that country’s consumer sector. There are fears that these small family run businesses will be unable to cope against the titanic behemoths which will use their financial muscle, supply chain and political influence to destroy all competition. Wal-Mart has been severely criticised for doing just that in its home ground of America .

Family run outfits, typified by the mom-and-pop stores, have been ravaged out of existence by the aggressive tactics and predatory pricing of Wal-Mart. A similar story is found in Britain where farmers have had their profit margins squeezed to the absolute minimum. Local shops have gone under, unable to compete against the superstores who have now opened their own Metro stores in the very same areas where the small village style shop was once trading. All over Britain and in many small American towns, the once vibrant retail sector has all but been diminished by the activities of the faceless corporate leviathans. Urban centres lie decaying save for fast food eateries, pubs, nightclubs, pawn brokers, and establishments specialising in catering to those addicted to gambling and sex. These are the only places, along with the supermarkets, actually making a very nice profit in the midst of a global economic recession.

Hence one can understand the opposition to Wal-Mart and other such companies setting up shop in India . But pricing is merely one aspect in the success of such places. Wal-Mart grew because of its emphasis on the customer. The same focus on customer service is evident in stores such as Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury in Britain . In India shopping remains a lowest common denominator process of handling cash in exchange for goods. Unless the person knows the vendor the customer cannot even be sure of getting a good price for what are often ubiquitous piles of rotting vegetables and vermin infested goods.

Customer service is only available to the wealthy as opposed to brusque and often dismissive manner in which the much vaunted street traders deal with India ’s mass consumer base. A protected economy breeds apathy, lack of innovation and above all an incredible level of arrogance. In a country like India where the social and political system favours the small ruling elite over the masses, the kleptocratic neo-colonialism saturates all thinking so that those with even the smallest amount of power leverage ensure that it is used. So it is not surprising that lack of customer service abounds along with bad quality goods, inflated prices and where the word ‘refund’ is not even in the traders’ vocabulary.

In such an environment it is simply impossible to enforce any semblance of trading standards where customers are at the mercy of merchants who feel that they are actually doing them a favour by even letting them buy their substandard produce and consumer goods. At the polar end of the social scale those with power and status, especially if they are part of the ruling kleptocracy, benefit from slavish sycophantism where all their petty needs are catered for. Yet this is also not customer service but a hangover from a feudal pre-modern past where servants put shoes on for their masters, made the tea, or chased away the peacocks. Is this the image of a rising nation which India wants the world to see

Customer service is a peculiarly western phenomenon. Taken to extremes Ayn Rand’s philosophy of Objectivism is harsh and unforgiving since it takes the view that as we are all inherently selfish then only be making selfishness acceptable will we build a better world. Yet there is an element of truth in this. Wal-Mart and other companies are selfish in that they want to make a profit so there is no difference at this level between them and the street trader. But while the latter views and treats the consumer base in an unforgiving predatory manner, the multinational realises that to compete there must be something extra. Customer service makes that simple handling of cash for goods an important shopping experience even more so than predatory pricing or strategic merchandising.

The multinational supermarket knows that the customer will return if treated in a respectful manner as well as finding all their consumer goods at an affordable price, of good quality and all under one roof without being constantly pestered by the merchant for simply trying to browse. Even when Indian stores try and emulate the western example, this inability to ensure the customer has the freedom to browse often takes the form of being followed around by a security guard who views every customer as a potential thief. They can even take them back if the goods are faulty or if they are dissatisfied.

One of the reasons why Amazon has done so well is not just on price but this high level of customer service. Without even having a store to browse Amazon offers its customers an array of consumer goods which can be delivered to the door, returned and even offers to rectify its mistakes to its own immediate economic detriment, not to that of the consumer. While book shops in particular have become very embittered by Amazon, it must be remembered that in the not too distant past cartelisation ensured book prices were fixed to the detriment of the British book lover.

In India the consumer is faced with an array of retail outlets which unless known to them personally offer nothing but cartelisation of bad quality products at amorphous prices. So perhaps the entry of Wal-Mart and others should be encouraged as it will encourage not just competition but a consumer culture which will raise standards of trading, quality, merchandise and actually deliver the customer service which is all too lacking in India’s retail sector.

Long-term this liberalisation of retail will in fact benefit India . Abroad, Indians not only do well in retail but have influenced it in ways which India itself has yet to recognise. Expelled from East Africa from 1968 by despotic regimes which viewed them as being of the wrong race, Indians arrived in Britain will little more than one suitcase. Yet it was the very family run corner shops which revolutionised the shopping culture, being a lifeline for essential goods during late hours and all day Sunday when even the supermarkets were shut and it was illegal to trade. Through dint, hard work and a barrage of fines these Asian shops did as much to change British consumer culture as curry houses did to the nation’s easting habits. For anyone who now takes Sunday trading as normal it is very difficult to hark back to those Dark Ages of no shopping, save for the Asian corner shop.

The arrival of Wal-Mart will ensure that India ’s own indigenous retail sector will be forced to make changes which will make them more competitive. Right now almost half of India ’s food goes to waste. Under British rule famine was accepted as the norm by the colonial rulers who did very little to increase food production while concentrating on cash crops such as cotton which would benefit the imperial power. After independence great strides were made to tackle hunger and malnourishment. The Green Revolution made Punjab the richest state and also ensured that India was self-sufficient in food. But this did not tackle the inefficient supply-chain system and ranks of middlemen who exploited the farmer much more than any multinational.

While ensuring a tidy profit for themselves, a host of merchants and petty government officials have helped to impoverish millions of Indian farmers to the brink of suicide, while passing on the inflated costs to the end consumer. Is this what the anti-globalists want to ensure India retains? Is this a system any Indian can be proud of? If anything the entry of Wal-Mart will allow India ’s own merchants and traders to see how a successful business is built without wastage of produce and goods, and without imposing needless extra costs. If India is to join the modern world then it needs to act like a country in the twenty-first century and not a failed state that is barely out of the eighteenth.

When one looks at how Indian companies are prospering abroad, such as by taking over the manufacture of British motoring icons like Jaguar cars or ironically even the original East Indian Company which is now owned by Sanjiv Mehta, an Indian born entrepreneur , shows it’s not just a simplistic case of India becoming just another hunting ground for Wal-Mart. In time too Wal-Mart’s home country can be revitalised by Indian companies. That is the rules by which free trade works and in their opposition to the entry of foreign retail, the BJP and others need to realise this.

Introduction – As a follow up to one of my previous articles, Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill, 2011, I’ve decided to focus my grievances with the unscrupulous subversion of India’s population as perpetrated by the Nehru-Gandhi clan and its minions. I am quite upset by watching India celebrate the failures of the Nehru-Gandhi clan and its continued erosion of the country’s social, religious, political and economic fabric. You know, we usually hear people say things like: “you don’t give this woman or this man enough credit for all the good things he/she has done”. My task in this modest essay is to shed light on what we don’t hear people say enough: “you don’t give this woman or this man enough credit for all the bad things he/she has done”. So be forewarned, I’ll be quite negative in the following paragraphs. If you are a diehard fan of the Nehru-Gandhi family (the clan), then be prepared to get the wakeup call of your life. I will briefly highlight the failures of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and that imbecilic brat unofficially known as Rahul Gandhi. Following the failures of the Nehru-Gandhi clan will be a brief list of present day malaises of India which can be attributed to the clan. I shall conclude with a juxtaposition of Mahatma Gandhi’s insights with the failures to live by those insights by the Congress Party figures and their corporate allies as one final jolt of reality.

Chacha Nehru my foot! Chacha Blunder is more befitting

I get really upset with some arrogant and stubborn historians who attempt to shove the belief that there is no “if” clause in history down my throat. This, to me, is the highest form of subversion! All disciplines should be analysed and reassessed based on the tweaking (up or down) or insertion/omission of certain variables (characters/events – for historical studies) in a model which explains a certain phenomena or occurrence. With your kind permission (dear readers), I shall use the “if” clause to better explain my grievances with the Nehru-Gandhi clan. So let us begin with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (affectionately known as Chacha Nehru). My own take on the fellow is that he was a power hungry cry baby. Nehru exhibited questionable morality – as his affairs with Lady Mountbatten and others are well documented. He was more at ease with experimenting with unproven foreign policy alternatives such as the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) which went on to weaken Sino-Indian, Indo-American, Indo-Pak relations while it strengthened Indo-Soviet relations.

And now, let us insert my ‘if’ clause and look at Nehru’s tenure as Prime Minister (PM) of India. If Nehru was not such a cry baby, then he would have conceded his defeat to Sardar Patel in the Congress leadership vote. If Sardar Patel was the PM of India, then we could bet with a high degree of confidence that the map of India would be quite different (I’m alluding to Kashmir and other territorial disputes). If Patel was PM, then India would not be governed by the idiotic and experimental foreign policy dictates of Nehru’s “Pancha Sheel – Five Pillars” framework within the Non-Aligned Movement. Nehru’s idiocy is perfectly exemplified by his turning down of the American offer of a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council in 1955. Instead, our beloved Chacha Nehru chose to be the ‘chamcha’ of our shrewd and realistic neighbours, the Chinese. Nehru vouched for China to have a permanent seat on the council. Nehru’s arrogance in avoiding border discussions and over-confidence in his experimental ‘chamchagiri’ caused India to pay a heavy price on the battlefield in 1962. Nehru never recovered from this blunder and neither did India’s foreign policy. In addition, we should not forget that Nehru (at the insistence of Lord Mountbatten) even put the offer of a plebiscite on the table at the UN in order to resolve the Kashmir dispute. This stupid move is still costing India a high price! Thank you, Chacha Nehru! Next, we analyse Nehru’s daughter.

“Garibi Hatao” – Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi

Indira Gandhi

Where to start with Indira Gandhi? We give lots of credit to Mrs Gandhi for having chopped Pakistan in two pieces. She gave the green light for “Smiling Buddha” to make India a nuclear state. And she brought over to India the Green Revolution (a new age of agricultural best practices and research) which was to alleviate India’s food shortages. That is where the positive vibes end. Mrs Gandhi was elected as PM for three consecutive terms from 1966-1977 (the third of which was rendered invalid by the courts) and came back to power from 1980-1984 until her assassination by a bodyguard.

Indira Gandhi holds two distinctions: 1) She was the only Indian Prime Minister to have declared a state of emergency so that she could ‘rule by decree’ and 2) She was the only Indian Prime Minister to have been incarcerated after holding the office (Mrs Gandhi committed election fraud in 1971 during her ‘Garibi Hatao’ campaign and was found guilty in 1975). The only ‘Garibi’ that Mrs Gandhi was concerned with was her own. Mrs Gandhi’s ‘rule by decree’ during the state of emergency was simply for two reasons: 1) to eliminate dissidents, and 2) to maintain her stranglehold on the country.

Mrs Gandhi’s son, Sanjay, was instrumental in implementing draconian measures in order to eliminate Congress and anti-Indira dissidents as well as to ravage slum dwellers and poor people during the state of emergency. The infamous ‘family planning’ campaign spearheaded by Sanjay is still fresh in the minds of many Indians. Sanjay’s mass vasectomy campaigns were not conducted under proper sanitary conditions and one can only imagine the pain of infection and death that some of the lured patients felt. Also, to win the blessings of the Gandhis, many public officers and doctors performed more-than-necessary amounts of vasectomies in order to meet the quota prescribed by Sanjay. Mrs Gandhi failed the Indian people by ruling like a tyrant. She took away the rights and freedoms of Indians while projecting a persona of “Mother” of the nation. For what did she do this? For power!

Indira Gandhi’s failures also hit the Punjab. She let Bhindranwale and his followers get to the point where they could assassinate anyone that they deemed heretics (Nirankaris etc.) as they pleased. At the same time, Bhindranwale’s friends received training from the ISI and they all jointly devised a plan to create Khalistan by taking over the Golden Temple. Indira Gandhi was left with no choice but to show Bhindranwale who was boss. Operation Bluestar and the subsequent actions of India’s supercop, KPS Gill, virtually eradicated the Khalistan movement from India. However, there were some very negative consequences. Sikhs were alienated and violated as their holiest shrine was ravaged. We also had the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. As well, I would like to share that this conflict also took the lives of over 329 passengers of Air India flight 182 in 1985. The passengers of that flight were brutally killed by a time bomb placed in the aircraft planted by Canada-based Khalistanis. 291 innocent Indo-Canadians lost their lives due to Indira Gandhi and the Khalistanis!

As a final criticism, many foreign policy experts suggest that Mrs Gandhi did not push hard enough on Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to make the LoC a permanent border between India and Pakistan (with respect to Kashmir). But that is a dwarfed issue as her victory in carving Pakistan in to two pieces overshadowed this criticism.

Indira Gandhi’s legacy is nothing short of tyranny. However, her assassination gained her sympathy and it seems that many people have forgotten all of the bad that she had committed. We now move on to her elder son, Rajiv.

Rajiv Gandhi

Rajiv Gandhi

Rajiv Gandhi was a mixed bag. He came in to politics after the assassination of his mother. She had initially planned to push Sanjay (her younger son) in to the top seat of Prime Minister, but he died in an airplane accident. However, Sanjay did rule the country under his mother’s name. Oh, and what a horrific job he did. Rajiv Gandhi came in to politics by accident but left his mark on India’s history. He started off by promising to modernize India, to press for global nuclear disarmament, to decentralise power, to clean up the Holy Ganges and many other promises. However, he was only partially successful in keeping some of his promises. Rajiv Gandhi helped to pave the way for India’s modern economy and peace with China, but that is where the glory stops. He was voted out of office due to his role in the Bofors scandal.

Rajiv Gandhi’s glories of institutionalising peace with China and modernizing India’s economy were overshadowed by his failures. I’ll list some of TK Arun’s thoughts on Rajiv Gandhi’s failures verbatim:

“The foremost failure is the contempt he showed for the Indian people….The strategy of serially appeasing first Muslim fundamentalists and then Hindu fundamentalists reflected cynical contempt for the people and their intelligence.”

“A related failure was his tendency to see people as objects of development, rather than as its subjects, the driving force. This led Rajiv Gandhi to trust technology missions to deliver clearly defined development goals.”

Rajiv never got the opportunity to rectify his mistakes and was brutally assassinated by LTTE terrorists in a suicide bomb blast. Rajiv Gandhi had just started to show some political wisdom while in the opposition but never got the chance to prove himself. I suppose the torch needed to be passed on and his time on earth had come to an end.

Sonia and Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi (real name - Antonia Edvige Albina Maino Gandhi)

Take a moment to bow your heads in reverence to Dr Subramanian Swamy. If it wasn’t for his swift actions, then Sonia Gandhi would be the Prime Minister of India (instead of Manmohan Singh). This one man has singlehandedly taken down political powerhouses. Many of the corruption scandals that we hear of and which were perpetrated by the Nehru-Gandhi clan were exposed and brought to the Supreme Court by Dr Swamy’s petitions. I don’t have anything positive to say for Sonia Gandhi and her silly son, Rahul. They both have slapped the small positive legacy of Rajiv Gandhi in the face with the record-breaking levels of corruption and sheer incompetence. Sonia doesn’t speak English or Hindi well. She can only do one thing well, and that is corruption. It must have been something she learned from the infamous Mafia of Italy, her motherland. Sonia is going to be brought to justice eventually. Her role in the numerous scams of the day is being exposed. Her son-in-law, Robert Vadra, became a billionaire out of thin air due to the connections that she had. That is just the tip of the iceberg.

One should understand very carefully that Sonia runs and operates India and her Congress party much the same way as a Grand Patriarch in a Mafia of Italy would do. Sonia is the Grand Matriarch of the Congress party and not a single decision is made without her stamp of approval and cut in the share of profits. Politicians and business people know damn well that they must pay respects and hefty tributes to the Grand Matriarch, Sonia in order to rape and pillage the country. I’ll share an example of how desperate some lowly politicians are to get in to Sonia’s inner circle. A few years back, Amar Singh and Mani Shankar Aiyar were attending a function in Delhi. Both gentlemen enjoyed their drinks but Aiyar had one too many. In a drunken stupor, he provoked Singh in to a mini-brawl. What was the reason? Aiyar was jealous that Singh and his leader (at the time) Mulayam Singh was gaining much clout with Sonia while Aiyar was struggling to get a berth in the Congress Working Committee. Enough about Sonia let us briefly discuss the brat, Rahul.

Sonia’s dear son Rahul does speak Hindi but he is a walking buffoon who has shown absolutely no political maturity. Rahul’s idea of being a man of the people is to roll up his sleeves and sit down at a villager’s home (near his constituency of Amethi) and eat puri-sabzi while NDTV and CNN-IBN report his every move as “Breaking News”. His staged humility is a sham!

Both Sonia and Rahul have dubious education records. However, Rahul takes the prize for the worst Gandhi as he is also an alleged rapist. If India elects Rahul Gandhi as its next PM, then nothing can save the country from pure and utter disaster. Also, what message will India be sending to the world if it elects an uneducated and alleged rapist to the posting of PM?

To sum up, the culture of failing the Indian people has been well preserved by Sonia Gandhi and her son, Rahul. One doesn’t even feel like wasting one’s time by discussing the endless list of failures that are attributed to these people. Let us now focus on the social, economic and political malaises that India suffers due to the aggregated efforts of the Nehru-Gandhi clan.

Thank you, Congress! You created the vote bank Beast!

Reservations

It is without doubt that reservation has helped the scheduled castes and tribes (SCST) ameliorate their social status – albeit at a snail’s pace. But there are some real positives that we should focus on: India has had an SCST President, Chief Justice, and female Chief Minister in Uttar Pradesh (the most populous state). So to an extent, India’s affirmative action project has been working. However, the sticky point is where there are other groups which desire reservations including: Brahmins (the poor ones), poor Hindus of other castes, Muslims, and Christians. These groups have also had the desire to derive some utility from the reservation system so that they could also land public jobs and send their children to IIMs and IITs to be competitive in the Indian market. However, countless governments on both ends of the political spectrum have been able to accomplish nothing for these unfortunate groups. There has been campaign promise rhetoric here and there by tyrants like Mayawati, but that holds no value unless some changes are made.

What the Hajj?

‘The Law of Double Standards’ is my term for the Congress Party’s special treatment given to our fellow Indian sisters and brothers of the Islamic faith. By special treatment, I mean that our Muslim sisters and brothers have huge, government sponsored subsidies which support and encourage them to go on their Hajj pilgrimages (to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina). Conversely, there are no such luxuries for Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jews, and Hindus of India. India bends over backwards to protect only one group’s religious identity. I am sure that all jurists who are truly secular would not let any such luxury be enjoyed by any religious community. Also, these same jurists should also believe that there is no room for Sharia law in India’s legal system. All Indians should have to go through the same processes in order to file for divorce etc. I hold all political parties which have ever governed India responsible for this. It does not matter if we are talking of Congress or the BJP. The entire political spectrum is guilty of this double standard.

Biased Indian Media

Media Bias

If there is the Congress Party in the political realm, then its propaganda wing consists of most of the media outlets in the country. All leading news agencies are guilty of pro-Congress rhetoric. I will lash out on one specific individual who stands out the most. I must admit my endless disdain for the likes of Barkha Dutt and her Congress-biased colleagues in print and TV media. Barkha Dutt’s crocodile tears at the suffering of Hindu groups are not only wretched but quite comical. Ms Dutt will openly cry genuine tears of sorrow for the pain and suffering of our Muslim sisters and brothers in India and across India’s borders. Ms Dutt is also more pro-Kashmiri independence than the Hurriyat, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Sajjad Lone, Sheikh+Farooq+Omar Abdullah, and Syed Geelani combined! If I was Ms. Dutt’s career advisor, then I’d advise her to join hands with fellow sell-out Arundhati Roy to completely liquidate India’s borders!

The Scams

I won’t even elaborate on the exact details of the following scams. The list is actually much larger, but please have a quick peek at the table to get an idea of some of the high profile scams perpetrated by the Nehru-Gandhi clan and its minions.

Jeep 1947

ISRO spectrum Scam, Coal Scam and 3G scam

Bofors

Adarsh

CWG

IPL

2G

Various Land Scams

Rajiv Gandhi Trust

Disaster

India’s economy is growing at a fast rate and the demographics of the country are promising. However, corruption, lousy infrastructure, and poor governance are all great reasons for concern! Failure to plug these holes may pose the risk of devastating the country. You can thank the Nehru-Gandhi Clan + Congress for the majority of this mess. However, there is a way out.

A homeless young boy waves the Indian flag

Solutions

The first step to improving from the status quo is awareness. I’m not so sure if all Indians are aware of what is truly going on in the country. Media subversion (funded by Congress and its industrialist friends) has played a very negative role in misinforming the public. Alternative media must be further nurtured by the civil society to fight this subversion! It is fast, cheap, democratic, and self-policing. It will be the game changer!

Solutions to India’s problems will only be formulated and executed when the entire population of India knows about the current state of affairs and feels that enough is enough. A collective effort is needed to bring about positive and sustainable change in the Motherland. I would like to offer some food for thought and action:

Mahatma Gandhi gave his grandson, Arun Gandhi, a list of the Seven Blunders of the World that lead to violence. Arun Gandhi added his own idea to the list. Steven W. Gilbert has added four more blunders to the list which focus on teaching, learning, and technology. I’ve added some names beside each blunder (in the Indian context). You be the judge and decide whether my opinions carry any merit or not.

Wealth without work [Mahatma Gandhi] –> Robert Vadra became a billionaire due to Sonia Gandhi’s connections (there are more cases but let us stick to one for now).

Pleasure without conscience [Mahatma Gandhi] –> Jawaharlal Nehru (womanizer), Rahul Gandhi (alleged rapist).

Knowledge without character [Mahatma Gandhi] –> Manmohan Singh (what use is your education when you have no spine to make decisions?).

Commerce without morality [Mahatma Gandhi] –> 2G and CWG Scandals (in recent times). Let us not forget Natwar Singh’s payoffs in the Iraq oil-for-food program!

Science without humanity [Mahatma Gandhi] –> Montek Singh Ahluwalia who is lobbying for Monsanto and European/American Pharmaceutical firms to destroy India’s food supply and affordable access to medication!

Worship without sacrifice [Mahatma Gandhi] –> All the vote bank seeking politicians who simply pay lip service to communities but are not true to their word.

Politics without principle [Mahatma Gandhi] –> P.Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal, Amar Singh, Salman Khurshid, Digvijay Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi (let’s stick to contemporary politicians only – or else the list will never end).

Rights without responsibilities [Arun Gandhi] –> The Apathetic voters who don’t stand up to corruption and tyranny but who complain that their lives are destroyed.

Technology without direction [Steven W. Gilbert] –> Nandan Nilekani’s UIDAI government venture has ballooned from Rs 3,023 crore to Rs 17,863 as Nilekani wants to increase his biometric capture mandate. Hmmm, this sounds like a typical consulting engagement which was agreed at one rate and then finalized at a rate which is grossly over budget. It builds dependence of the client on to the consultancy. Typical business model!

Connection without community [Steven W. Gilbert] –> Political or business leaders may have Social Media followers or may meet the common man or woman at a face-to-face public event, but that does not translate into true community building. Need I offer examples? I think not.

Teaching without joy [Steven W. Gilbert] –> Education is no longer a noble profession in India and elsewhere. It is simply a business! Not to discount the noble educators in the country.

Learning without hope [Steven W. Gilbert] –> All of those young students who are working so hard but feel that they have no future due to reservations, corruption, slow job creation, nepotism, and a lack of meritocracy in India!

With that, I sign off wishing you all peace, health, righteousness, self-awareness, and endless resolve to clean up the homeland and the world!

Your humble servant,

Abhaya Shanker Dube

Narendra Modi was cleared of any wrongdoing by the Supreme Court of India of the Godhra 2002 riots. However, the anti-BJP and anti-hindu media constantly blames him. If they blame Modi for the 2002 Godhra riots, then why don’t they constantly remind us of all the riots that took place under Congress Government?

Most of the victims in the below riots were members from the Hindu community, but the media doesn’t feel they need to remind us about these riots and will continue to blame anyone associated with BJP or that has relations with Hinduism.

To be fair, the media should remind us of the ruling governments in these riots and make sure that they do not stop until the Supreme Court of India has cleared them just as they did for Modi.

Hindu Swastika Symbol

Whenever Hindus try and speak out on any issue they are constantly lambasted as fascist, fundamentalist and pro-caste. This is a speciality of the unholy axis between Christian hatecore groups and Marxists in their joint strategy for blaming all India ’s problems on Hinduism. While to many it would seem strange how hardcore atheists would join hands with obscurantist religious groups there is no doubt that the language employed and the issues raised are the same, indeed repetitively so.

This is most notable in discussing inequality, which is always associated with caste. India ’s communal problems are always blamed on Hindu extremists who are labelled the heirs to Hitler’s ideology. But how much truth is there in this? Does fascism actually exist in India ? The answer to the second question would always be yes, look at the BJP, VHP and RSS.

However doing that does raise a few problems, not least in that any type of Hindu activism is associated with such groups and thereby labelled fascist. But then what do we mean by fascism? Even if we go by common stereotypes this becomes very problematic in that it is the BJP and such groups which have always urged a pro-Israel foreign policy for India . The Marxist-Christian axis may laugh this off but can they be so dismissive when Hitler loyalists such as Remer took their anti-Semitism to its logical extreme by helping the Nazi admiring regimes of Nasser and Assad, in Egypt and Syria respectively? Also such Hindu groups proudly parade the fact that Jews flourished in India for two millennia with no trace of hostility from the majority community. That hardly makes for harmonious ideology with Mein Kampf.

Fascism is an amorphous term synonymous with extreme right-wing nationalist. But this again entails more problems than it clarifies. In 1944 Nobel prize winning economist FA Hayek traced the roots of fascism and especially Nazism (which he called by its original German name of “national-socialism”) back to the Left, namely Marxist and other socialist theories. The rise of racist, revanchist and ultra-nationalist groups in former communist Europe since 1989 has to a large extent vindicated this view. Hayek’s posthumous prophecy has been most pronounced in Russia where the worst levels of Nazi skinhead racial violence is only a reflection of the crude nationalism exhibited by former hardcore communists.

To this extent Jonah Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism has perhaps been the best updated version of Hayek’s analysis. In this we find that so many movements which begin as revolutionary, statist and especially socialist end up being fascist.

So how does this relate to India ? The republic prides itself on being a socialist state. What was the Emergency is it was not an attempted putsch? If one looks into Nehru’s past we find undying love for the USSR . Yet less well known is how India ’s first prime minister was invited to tour the Third Reich and exhibited rather unsavoury anti-Semitic sentiments as well as sympathy for the pro-Nazi elements among Arab nationalism.

As any NRI ( non resident Indian ) would know the country has a mind boggling set of often contradictory bureaucratic hurdles, even if these have eased somewhat. As ‘outsiders’ the NRI is subject to the full iron fist of these various forms, regulations and other soul destroying mechanisms which the right bribe would quickly render irrelevant. But what is rarely brought out is the xenophobic nature of these. When not viewed as money laden milch cows, NRI’s are looked down upon in a similar manner to how nissei (descendants of Japanese immigrants to Brazil ) are treated as social lepers by ultranationalists when they become guest workers in their ancestral homeland of Japan . By hardening caste boundaries through affirmative action quotas, the Indian state has created pseudo-ethnic friction through the application of a racial mythology in which a primeval Aryan race oppressed the natives.

This ideological offal is supported by the Marxist-Christian hatecore axis, who conveniently ignore just where this led to in Rwanda in 1994. In India fascism is exhibited by a host of casteist, Leftist, regionalist and minority religious fundamentalist groups for which the ‘Hindu’ is the common enemy, much as the ‘Jew’ was to organic and romantic nationalists in nineteenth century Europe . The fact that the Hindus may be in a demographic majority makes no difference when one considers how a majority can be the victim of unending hate as blacks were in South Africa for hundreds of years.

India ’s Marxist academics and socialist planning have created the fascist mindset which has led to xenophobia, caste competition, aggressive missionary tactics and the annihilation of Hindus from parts of the country. To understand this one only need to examine how the liberal nationalism and high ideals of the French Revolution led to what many see as the diametric opposite to the Jacobin state: the romantic German nationalism of Fichte, and the organic French nationalism of Charles Maurras.

Goldberg also mentions how we have misunderstood totalitarianism. The image of ‘Big Brother’ always looms large in how such a state would look. But it is now clear that far from being a prophet, Orwell merely reflected the nature of his times. Nineteen Eighty-Four was written as Stalinism was a real threat and unlike Orwell other socialists and liberals, the “useful idiots” as Lenin termed such naïve idealists, would not wake up and smell the coffee.

For example Jean-Paul Sartre was so concerned about the reality of life in the USSR demoralising the proletariat in the capitalist countries, he preferred to avert his gaze until the plight of the Vietnamese boat people made it too obvious that communism really was not creating an earthly paradise. No, the prophet of totalitarianism is a title which should be awarded to Aldous Huxley. Brave New World looks benign with its addictive hedonism, notably recreational sex. But look deeper and what we find is a society of unthinking androids, lack of deep thinking, and no emotional ties of family and friends. Nobody is mourned when they die because nobody misses them. While Orwell was concerned that in his nightmare books would be banned, in Huxley’s teddy-bear vision there is no need to ban books because nobody reads them. How far does Huxley’s vision reflect modern India ? Marxist domination of academia has killed off creative thinking.

This is most obvious in the humanities where Stalinist professors create unthinking clones of themselves and then like the pigs in Animal Farm jump at the first opportunity to gain lucrative relationships with the ‘other side’, in this case the very imperialist capitalist west which they so often denounce, and get plum appointments at institutions where they can find yet more unsuspecting victims to harangue with their unlettered monologue. Hence why India has brought out little that is new in these subjects as the past is regurgitated and vomited with nobody even bothering to clean up the mess. That is why Indians leaving to work aboard are most often in the sciences where one needs to think only straight and logic.

It is fortunate that India did not produce its very own versions of Lysenko to force science into an ideological straightjacket. As India rises from decades of Nehru-Gandhian national socialism, the Huxleyan nightmare looms large.

Look at the majority of bollywood movies or television channels and it is the same repetitive and unimaginative mix of mind destroying hedonism usually involving scantily clad half attempts of burlesque combined with even more laughable attempts to mime cheesy tunes, taken from the latest issue of cellular vomit. Without the liberal and civic values which in western countries have counterbalanced predatory consumerism, India is subjected to a fast paced fantasy world which appeals to the rawest and most destructive forms of sensuality.

This is not inspiration but destructive escapism as India’s elite and those aspiring to join it live in a ‘brave new world’ aloof from the masses, the ‘savages’ from Huxley’s novel. As social structures loosen the former strictures of caste in its place we find not an egalitarian society, but millions of atomised individuals with nothing to buffer between them and the state. In such a potent mix dangerously romantic and organic ideas will create new bonds much tighter than the social structure which is being discarded. In a civilisation that inspired Huxley and others with its deep spirituality, a crude and uncompromising form of hedonism has become the standard reference point.

Nature abhors a vacuum and out of the atomised flotsam and bohemian chattering classes a menacing alternative awaits to take its place. In this atmosphere there is no place for the individual, for creativity, for deep thinking and for the solitude which was necessary for India to produce such great minds as in the past. Only mindless androids, human sheep and faceless characters can hope to succeed in such an environment. This is fascism Indian style and it is the diametric opposite to the values which are found in Hindu Dharma.

Gurgaon, Haryana (CHAKRA) – Baba Ramdev-led, satyagraha, against corruption and black money, may have ended in the national capital but his followers have not given up the fight and are determined to keep moving ahead with their stance against corruption. On Sunday many of Guru Ramdev’s followers as well as followers of other religions and social organizations, hit the road to keep on supporting him.

In front of the deputy commissioners residence, Ramdev supporters burnt effigies of the Congress government during a protest in the market. It has also been announced by the Bharat Swabhiman Trust, that Monday will be declared as Black Monday, calling all shop owners to keep their shutters down for the day.

After the Saturday night incident with the police forces and tear gas, Ramdev’s supporters came out in large numbers, including organizations like Arya Samaj, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Sanatan Dharm Sabha, Arya Pritinidhi Sabha, Parivartan Sangh, as well as members from the BJP and the RWA’s–all gathered in front of the Fountain Chowk in the old city.

The state Vice President of Arya Pritinidhi Sabha, Kanhaiya Lal Arya said that the police resorting to violence was a clear infringement of human rights. He further stated his discontentment with the police forces aim to protect the government rather than doing something about he corruption of the government.

Kulbhushan Bhardwaj, the senior city BJP leader and district bar association president, said that the Saturday night’s incident was comparable to the Jallianwala Bagh episode. He further alleged that the only reason the UPA congress targeted the satyagraha, was to get the publics minds off of the real issue at hand–the corruption.

Vayapar Mandal, from the Trade Association of Gurgaon has also supported the movement, announcing that all shops in the city would remain closed on Monday. Trilok Chand Sharma, the state president of Bharat Swabhiman Trust, said that police have been deployed in the city to maintain the law and prevent any harm to the people of the city.

S.S. Deswal, a Gurgaon police commissioner, said that they have deployed police to maintain the law and order of the city while some groups took out a flag march on the city roads and other areas in the district. As long as people protest peaceful the city police have no problem with protests taking place.

Ahmedabad, Gujarat (CHAKRA) – The BJP government of Gujarat has prioritized its efforts to preserve sites that are going to be apart of the Buddhist tourism circuit in the Central Gujarat region. The tourists sites are going to include the caves of Saurashtra as well as the remains of the Buddhist monastery.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has been excavating the ancient Buddhist caves and surrounding sites. In response to this the Gujarat government has expedited its work on the preservation of such sites although it is still waiting for approval from the central government to go ahead with the planning of the Buddhist tourism circuit proposal.

The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr. Narendra Modi, has eagerly taken interest in this in these activities and as a result visited the excavation sites in Vadnagar of Mehsana district in North Gujarat to take a look at the work being done at the sites.

During his visit, Mr. Modi spoke highly of the excavation activities taking place. He brought to light the visits made in the past by Buddhist monks who came in search of spiritual knowledge and their influence in the eastern belt of India. He further stated that because the eastern belt of India is so influenced by the Buddha, the Buddhist relic findings serve as an opportunity to study his influence on the western belt.

According to an official of the Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs, they plan to build a shed made out of special fibre to protect the excavation site from rain and other damaging materials.

The official at the site also stated that the plan is to build a cultural wall to display the relics found at the site, for which 40 lakh rupees has been set aside. Furthermore, there is a long-term plan to build the area into a museum in Vadnagar because of the number (7000) of relics they have discovered since over five years ago. Most of these findings are from the Ghaskol Darwaja excavation site in the town of Vadnagar.

Some of the findings include clay utensils, beads, ornaments, silver coins, sculptures, tablets, plaques depicting Buddha and parts of a vessel with descriptions relating to Buddhism.

The Tourism Secretary, Mr. Vipul Mitra, said that the Buddhist caves found in various locations of Saurashtra region will also become part of the circuit.

Security has been dispatched in all areas of the site along with signs up displaying information charts about the history of the caves.

The caves are located in various places including, in the Shiyot village of Lakpat taluka, in Kutch district, the Ranpur village of Jamnagar, in Sana, in Prabhas Patan, in the Savangiri villages of Junagadh, and in Gondal taluka or Rajkot.

Many in the international community have praised this initiative by the Narendra Modi government after many ancient Buddhist monuments have been destroyed by Islamic extremists in countries such as Afghanistan and Bangladesh in recent years.

Ranchi, Jarkhand (CHAKRA) — The BJP Party has given support to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) supporters who are protesting against the demolition of 39 Hindu temples which are constructed on government land.

The shutdown of such a sponsorship has been openly stated by the VHP party which the backing of BJP officials. Raghubar Das, the state BJP president said he is shocked to see that temples will be demolished at a large scale in the state. Thus he has stated his party’s moral support to the VHP’s fight against such destruction.

Uday Shankar Ojha, president of the Mahavir Mandal, another religious organization, stated that the group has demanded a shutdown of such a sponsorship by September 24th.

Many of the 30 temples have been constructed over 50 years ago and are regularly visited by thousands of people. The Hindu community is outraged and upset after hearing such news regarding a place of worship where they go to seek peace within.

Many Hindu critics are okay with the Government’s decision to demolish Hindu Temples on Government land if houses of worship from all religions are treated equally. This comes after there has been exceptions made for Christian churches and Muslim mosques from being demolished on Government land. Critics say this isolates Hindu temples and is a form of religious discrimination against the Hindu community.

The fight to withhold the destruction of temples will continue until the protesters win and are served justice. Protests are to continue over the weekend until a response from government officials is received.
