Jammu, Kashmir (CHAKRA) —Sikhs are feeling continuously unsafe in the Valley of Kashmir.  A Sikh-based organization said there was a common consensus of members of the Sikh faith feeling unsafe in the area.  Their cars are being damaged in addition to girls and women feeling unsafe to move out of their homes in fear of harassment.  Not only do the women and children of Sikh faith feel insecure but many Sikh men living in the Valley are getting threat letters.

A Sikh leader in the area stated that more insecurity as risen among the Sikhs in the area especially after the statement of Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi who said that no one can guarantee the security of any community of people in the Valley.  This statement just created further insecurity among the people of the Valley because they had contradictory statements being thrown at them which left them confused about the sincerity of either statement—whether they are safe or not.

The Sikh people of Kashmir wanted peace with the Muslims and stated that they have never created and problems or hindrances for the Muslims of Kashmir and hope to continue surviving with honour in the city.
