October 10, 2014 marks the six year anniversary since Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur’s incarceration related to allegations of her role in the Malegaon blast and the murder of RSS pracharak Sunil Joshi. We have full faith in our Judiciary that justice will prevail. However, when comparing the case of the Sadhvi with the cases lodged against Abdul Nasser Mahdani, one wonders if there is some anti-Hindu and misogynist bias. Below, we have listed some facts that can be easily verified on the Internet. We urge members of the public to observe the facts and judge for themselves.
Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur | Abdul Nasser Mahdani |
Accused in Malegaon Blast, murder of Sunil Joshi | Accused of having role in Coimbatore Blast, Bangalore Blast, also alleged to have connection with south India commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Thadiyantavide Nazeer |
Female Hindu Leader | Male Muslim Leader |
Holy Woman | Politician (alliance between PDP and CPI) |
Breast Cancer patient | Diabetes, vision ailment |
Defense Lawyer: Ganesh Sovani
*Mahesh Jethmalani spoke on behalf of the accused once – briefly. |
Defense Lawyer: Prashant Bhushan |
Media treatment of case: Zero sympathy on even humanitarian grounds. Guilty of Saffron Terror and must be proven innocent. | Media treatment of case: Tehelka cooked up a “BJP” witness named Yoganand to help exonerate the accused. False charges and alleged is Innocent until proven Guilty. |
Bail: DENIED
*Note: to be fair, the accused was allowed to attend the cremation of her father for one day only. |
BAIL: GRANTED on multiple occasions –> Justice Markandey Katju is quoted as saying: “How can a person on a wheel chair pose a threat if released on bail?” |
A woman with a serious disease like breast cancer is being left to rot in jail and receive sub-par government-run treatment while a man with alleged ties to Lashkar-e-Taiba, SIMI, and party affiliation with Marxists is out on bail. Is this befitting of a country that prides itself for being secular?
May justice prevail!
Atul says
The bias is in-your-face and shameless. Another manifestation of Gandhiji’s ‘turn the other cheek and plead with your attacker to slap you again’. Enough. No more please.
