Amidst a near-complete media blackout and distressing silence from statutory bodies like the National Human Rights Commission, a serious communal flare up has taken place in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, with more than 200 Hindu homes torched and looted in four villages — Naliakhali, Herobhanga, Gopalpur and Goladogra, in the Canning police station area, from the wee hours of February 19. Almost two dozen Hindu shops were fully damaged and looted in Joynagar police station area; many shopkeepers have fled and members of the besieged community have begun to send their womenfolk away.
Although triggered by a purely local incident, the looming Panchayat elections in the State seem to have given vested interests an opportunity for a show of strength. Competitive communalism is in the air, with the two major political formations fighting to capture the huge Muslim vote in the State.
By all accounts, the trouble began late in the night of February 18-19 when Maulvi Rohul Kuddus (resident of Ghutiyari Shariff, South 24 Parganas) and Abdul Wahab (resident of village Moujpur, Joynagar) were returning from Jaamtala Haat in Kultali after attending a religious congregation. Maulvi Kuddus was driving a motorcycle when the duo was attacked by unidentified culprits on the Naliakhali main road. Maulvi Rohul Kuddus was shot dead and his aide Abdul Wahab, injured.
The motive for the murder is unclear. Reports in a prominent newspaper however, claim that the Maulvi was carrying Rs 11.5 lakhs, which was taken away by the assailants. Other sources say that huge unaccounted funds are circulating in the region and are being used to buy unlicensed firearms and ammunition, under the patronage of political parties.
As rumours spread, large numbers of Muslims began to descend upon the area in trucks. The headmaster of a local school reportedly incited the mob, and soon Hindu homes began to be attacked from the early hours of February 19. The violence quickly escalated with the police and administration initially at a loss. According to local reports, police officers Anup Samaddar and Anup Ghoash of the Canning police station were seriously injured and two police vehicles torched in the turmoil. The unrest has spread to Sandeshkhali area of North 24 Parganas.
Hindu Samhati leader Tapan Ghosh, who is monitoring the situation with volunteers, told a local television channel that after the Maulvi’s body was found, Naliakhali village, which was closest to the site of the crime, was attacked and looted, the village temple damaged, and five women molested. As the police party was initially outnumbered, the mob torched homes with impunity, pouring petrol and setting them ablaze in a three hour rampage. Naliakhali villagers claimed they had no knowledge about the murder and the reasons for the attack on them until the police arrived.
Neighbouring villages were also attacked, Hindus beaten and their shops destroyed. The mob set up roadblocks at several places such as Natunhat, Priyor More (Joynagar ps), Bhangankhali, Hospital More (Basanti ps).

According to the Census 2001, the district-wise population of Muslims in West Bengal is Murshidabad (63.67 per cent); Malda(49.72 per cent); North Dinajpur (47.36 per cent); Birbhum (35.08 per cent); South 24 Parganas (33.34 per cent); Nadia (25.41 per cent); Howrah(24.44 per cent); Cooch Behar (24.24 per cent); North 24 Parganas(24.22 per cent); South Dinajpur (24.01 per cent); Kolkata (20.27 per cent);Bardhaman (19.78 per cent); Hooghly (15.14 per cent); Midnapore(11.32 per cent); Jalpaiguri (10.78 per cent); Bankura (7.51 per cent); Purulia(7.12 per cent) and Darjeeling (5.31 per cent).

When are the Indians going to get wise and start deporting their Muslim population? As long as there are Muslims in India there will be nothing but sedition and murder. I’ve posted the following challenge dozens of times to dozens of Muslims…without ever getting a response:
If Islam is the religion of peace, where in Abdullah bin Humaid’s article on jihad can I find the equivalent of “Love Thy Neighbor”? “and good will toward men”? And explain its prominence, (and significance), in a book that’s considered second only to the Koran; My Summarized Sahih Al-Bukhari. Also address “jihad” as it’s defined in Reliance of the Traveller and answer the same question. Also compare Humaid’s “jihad” and Emmet Fox’ Sermon on the Mount and tell me which one best represents a spirit of Love and compassion.

Another man, who does have a deserving title in front of his name, is the Reverend Richard Wurmbrand. It’s men like him, and his experiences as a Missionary in Communist Russia, that teach me the differences and the realities of who the legitimate men of God are. A perfect example is the description of the word “martyr” on page eight of his book “Tortured for Christ”:
“According to the original Greek, “martyr” means “witness”. The writer of Hebrews states that “we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [martyrs]” (12:1), and Jesus instructs us in Acts 1:8, “You shall be witnesses [martyrs] to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” The New Testament martyr not only personally testified to the truth and power of Jesus Christ, but was instructed to take that witness to others, regardless of the cost. In my copy of Tortured For Christ I’ve got the last four words double underlined; “martyred for that cause”.
The world over Muslims are murdering Buddhists. And using the word “murder” is putting it kindly. In all of Islamic literature; Sahih Muslim, Sahih Bukhari, The Koran and especially Reliance of the Traveller where can you find teachings that would result in the following story?:
This is from the book “the Wisdom of Forgiveness” by His Holiness the Dalai lama and Victor Chan. Pages 47 and 48:
“Whenever the Dalai lama talks about forgiveness, he likes to use as an example the story of Lopon-la, a Lhasa monk he knew before the Chinese occupation. ‘After I escaped from Tibet, Lopon-la put in prison by Chinese’, the Dalai Lama told me. ‘he stayed there eighteen years. When he finally free, he came to India. For twenty years, I did not see him. But he seemed the same. Of course looked older. But physically OK. His mind still sharp after so many years in prison. He was still same gentle monk. He told me the Chines forced him to denounce his religion. Thery tortured him many times in prison. I asked him whether he was ever afraid. Lopon-la then told me: ‘Yes, there was one thing I was afraid of. I was afraid I may lose compassion for the Chinese.’”
I’d like to know, when I look at the pictures of the wild-eyed, frothing at the mouth fanatics in pictures and TV, where is that spirit of love and forgiveness when they’re shouting “alahu-akbar”? I can’t even find it in Taha’s Second Message of Islam. Here’s an exerpt of what I DO find;

The caption below says: “In 2007 Islam and Judaism’s holiest holidays overlapped for 10 days. It is this very reason that awareness of causes of violence in Islam is essential. Awareness is safety precaution which leads to measures in self defence. This is the price of unawareness in the votebank politics where Hindus are fragmented into smaller ineffective vote banks. It is this fragmentation which has led to the wows of Hindus. Time to waken up and Hindus must become bolder and exert more to claim their rights. As Mr Gautam Sen has expressed rightly that Hindus will be a written off script in this century, not far….
And one more thing. Not only do Hindus need to unite, so do all other infidels. Christians, Jews, you name it. All other religions are capable – even if it seems difficult at time – of getting along. Islam doesn’t play nice. Its the only one of the world’s major faiths whose founding story is “might makes right” writ large.

Thank you Larry. I did visit the preliminary pages of the link in your comment. Unfortunately not many people talk in the same vein as Muslims do. Quran also recommend Taqqiya which promotes talking lies which is not a “Sin” and thus Muslims are hard to trust them.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) fought battles all his life since his era of enlightenment, I can’t believe a true Prophet of a religion engaging or suggesting to lie, fight in whatever cause it may be, He should have prefered to be crucified like Jesus or Socrates and better be “Martyred” than martyring others. I can’t reconcile myself with this parochial patrirchism of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as so eloquently proclaimed by the Muslim Ummah.
This obviously and quite legitimately prompts the non Muslims or even some reasoned Muslims to ask these stark questions, “Is Islam a religion or a dogmatic political ideology advanced in those medieval desrt bed of Beduin tribes who were totally illiterate including the prophet himself.
Quran is a highly contested document, we know it. It was written long after the death of Muhammad (PBUH) and its veracity has not been adjudicated. Only because of their Pavlovian reaction at the very name of this genuine concern by those who are their victims.
Why should Islam be so inconsiderate as a religion, if it is a religion, to others who are not impressed. What are they trying to convert, “Body or Soul”? If body, then it can only a recruitment office for number of increasing the foot soldiers like in a Military/Army. If so, then a definition of religion has to be revised.
If the Soul is converted, “Then why so much of fights and blood shed”? Let the philosophy be inspiring and leave it to individuals to decide. It is this very fact in the “Sanatana Dharma” which don’t maks it believe in “predatory proselytisation or conversion”. This gathering of foot soldiers in number game makes them stupidly claim “fastest growing religion” and cause human myseries, raping the women, slamming zizya, etc.
I can also see that reform in such a radicalised ideology is impossible as also observed by several other elites who like me, are truly sympathisers of Muslim masses, but not at the cost of individual freedoms. This is what Abraham Lincoln had observed, “If I can not be a slave, so I can not be a Master”?
Hindu philosophy is very succinct, “Vasudev kutumbakam – Universal Brotherhood”. Wherelse can one find such a loving message other than Hinduism. Unfotunately the fanatics think that Hindus are cowards, instead of learning the perennial philosophy of love, peace, brotherhood, but unlike the silly Muslim Brotherhood of a bunch jihadi guirrilas.
