Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti 2013

(CHAKRA) Guru Gobind Singh Ji Jayanti is a special day in Sikhism and is celebrated by Sikhs around the globe. Guru Gobind Singh Ji jayanti falls on January 5th, 2013. Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is the birthday of Sikhism’s 10th and last guru and this day witnesses’ large processions and special prayer gatherings at all Gurudwaras which are Sikh temples.

Gobind Singh was born in Patna, Bihar in India, he was also a warrior, poet and philosopher. He succeeded his father Guru Tegh Bahadur as the leader of Sikhs at a young age of nine. He contributed much to Sikhism; most notable was his formalisation of the faith which the first Sikh guru Nanak Dev had founded almost three centuries ago. He transformed Sikhs into Khalsa (pure) in 1699.

In addition to his spiritual and military leadership, Guru Gobind Singh was a gifted intellectual and had many poets in his court. He was inspired to write many powerful spiritual compositions that infused a martial spirit in the people. This included the Jaap Sahib. Guru Gobind Singh’s writings have been collected in the Dasam Granth. When he passed away he instructed his Sikhs to regard the Guru Granth Sahib as their teacher.

The Chakra team wishes all Sikhs and followers of Guruji a happy and blessed Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti!

Sikhs on this auspicious day of Guru Gobind Singhji who fought valiantly protecting the Hindu faith when the barbaric Muslim rulers were invading and commiting atrocities in India; should take a fresh vow to protect their ancestral people. This would be the best attribute to the Guru’s mission and his legacy.

Agree with the Above comment. The only way Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism will survive is NOT BY trying to side with Christian and Islamic ideology of the Middle East, and then talk about One God, etc, etc, trying to bridge the gap, that way will seal the end of Sikhi, Buddhism, and Jainism. The survival of Sikhism, Buddhism, and Jainism comes from the survival of Hinduism. If hinduism is killed of, then Sikhism, buddhism and Jainism will 100% suffer the same death, Hinduism protects those faiths and their paths to the truth. So sikhism, buddhism and jainism NEED to defend Hinduism, defend its past, culture, vaarna system, they must united hit hard the Aryan theory, if all Dharmic faiths are united in history and politics then NO-ONE can deny the truth. Sikhism 100% beleives in Vaarna system, but western miseducated sikhs will say, Sikhism doesnt accept caste, BUT it does ACCEPT VAARNA. SO then to create an idenity in the western world, they attack Hindism, saying we dont beleive in that. But what the miseducated sikhs then dont understand is that first of all, SIKHISM 100% PROTECTS VAARNA system, its the same ideology in hinduism. Second almost all western educated Indians, of what ever dharmic faith will promote a pro western colonial agedna that has been filtered into the education itself.
