Just over a year ago, a most engaging conversation took place between Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and Dr Jayaprakash Narayan in which they discussed topics ranging from politics to spirituality. Sadhguru believes that a paradigm shift in power from government to industry is occurring in which transforming the Indian economy is the key. This transformation should happen in an environment where personal ambition is set aside for the larger vision.
Earlier, Sadhguru had coined the term “inclusive economics” He explained how this would only work if appropriate laws are made and enforced to provide a framework for the market economy where everyone benefits. One of the most profoundly true statements made during the discussion was when Sadhguru was asked how to balance material and spiritual needs. His answer was: “Asking a hungry man to meditate is obscene. Half the population is still not eating well – so economics is the need right now.” With the BJP/NDA government winning a clear majority, it is to be seen if they can deliver what the nation seeks: freedom from poverty and equal opportunities for all.
