In Pattani’s Thung Yang Daeng district, two Thai Buddhists were recently killed. Police have revealed that the foremost suspects are two muslim militants from the area.
Suan Chansri and Somnuak Somdang were traveling in a pick up truck through the village of Ban Khao Din when a number of culprits ran out of a forest shooting at them in their pick up truck. The two men died at the scene before being taken to the hospital. The incident occurred around 6 pm in Tambon Pagu.
The men were on their way home in Yala’s Raman district when the incident occurred.
Duty officers at the Thung Yang Daeng Police station said that the attackers has placed bomb like explosives on both sides of the road so that after shooting the victims police would not be able to easily spot them giving them a chance to escape.
Police officers who are experts in explosives were called to the scene to examine and inspect the devices.
Police have revealed that the attacks were very likely to be carried out by separatist Islamic militants.
